Kinship Family Resources

After ample amounts of advocacy work by kinship caregivers and stakeholders throughout the state including Northern Ohioans for Budget Legislation Equality (NOBLE); in the FY 20 21 state budget, Ohio allocated funding for the Kinship Navigator program designed to provide information and services to Kinship Care providers.

This funding was used to develop the Ohio Kinship and Adoption Navigator Program (OhioKAN).

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services worked with Kinnect Ohio to develop a framework for OhioKAN which provides a range of services throughout the state.

The goal of OhioKAN is to provide information to kinship families, connect them to local services and to collaborate with social service agencies to offer support plans, case management and individualized services.

OhioKAN is a 100% free service for Ohio's kinship and adoptive families. OhioKAN Navigators are available to talk 1:1 about any Kinship Care questions you may have.
