Working Groups
Medicaid & Food Security
The most vulnerable Ohioans continue to bear the brunt of budget cuts to much-needed services like healthcare. We work hard to ensure that low-income Ohioans have access to food assistance through SNAP/ EBT benefits and quality, affordable healthcare by making sure they have a seat at the table in the budget legislation process.
Kinship Care
Approximately 227,862 children in Ohio are in kinship care. Unfortunately, these families receive less money from the state budget than families participating in the foster care program. We continue to work towards a more equitable distribution of funds so that all children can receive the resources they need to thrive.
Transportation
Cuts to funding of public transit continue to be a burden on many Ohioans, who rely on it for work, school, and everyday travel. Making sure there is reliable, accessible and affordable public transit in our communities is an integral part of making them stronger.
Budget Committee
Through frequent communication and collaboration with local and statewide elected officials, we advocate during both the Ohio State and Cuyahoga County biennial budget processes to secure and strengthen funding for essential services and community needs. We also monitor and support legislation related to budget priorities and critical funding areas.
